AMFT Therapist in Ventura CA
I’m Anya, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in Ventura, California. My approach is warm, collaborative, and curious with a sprinkle of directness every once in a while. I want therapy to be a safe space where you can speak openly and feel understood, without the pressure to have everything figured out.
My previous therapeutic work included early childhood intervention, supporting families, and working with individuals and couples. These experiences deepened my appreciation for how our early experiences, relationships, and environments shape the ways we feel, respond, and show up in the world.
My focus now is on helping individuals develop a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection by exploring how it relates to experiences of anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic pain & illness.
Through trauma informed, experiential and somatic approaches, my hope is to help you feel more embodied, settled, and connected to yourself. Additionally, I teach tools to support emotional and nervous system regulation.
I became a therapist because I’m interested in people’s stories, how lives shape us, how we make sense of them, and what helps us move forward. I know how much it can matter to have someone listen with care and curiosity.
My own experiences as a partner, parent, and person navigating life’s challenges inform the compassion I bring to this work.
Through my own history of navigating an autoimmune disorder, past job burnout, and supporting a loved one with chronic pain, I deeply understand the importance of balance in life and truly taking care of our mind and bodies. Additionally, I have been in recovery for 18 years. These experiences have shaped who I am and remind me that even when life feels difficult, growth and change are always possible.
Outside of therapy, I’m a wife and mom of three children, often balancing family life with homeschooling, soccer, and theater activities. I enjoy hot yoga and sculpt classes, gardening, and a good strong cup of coffee.
My interest in horses and my daughter’s obsession with them has led me to pursue training in equine-assisted psychotherapy. I’ve also completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training, which deepened my interest in the mind-body connection. Both experiences have helped me appreciate the connection and learning that can happen when we step beyond conversation and into experience.
